Amazon Sellers – Creating Successful Plans Of Action

When a seller has been suspended from selling on Amazon and wishes to regain selling privileges, the only way to do that is to submit a complete, factual Plan Of Action (POA).

After reviewing thousands of POAs submitted by Amazon sellers, I’ve been able to assist Amazon sellers all over the globe in recovering from suspended accounts.

A strong POA is not about emotion or arguing; it’s about having good documentation, structure, and clarity contained within the written POA.

This article will provide you with information regarding what Amazon looks for in a POA, three key components required by all POAs, and how to write a compelling response.

What is a Plan of Action (POA)?

When Amazon requests a POA, they are attempting to determine whether the seller understands what caused a seller’s account suspension, and what efforts the seller has initiated in order to remedy the problems.

Essentially, the POA is your explanation of what went wrong, how you rectified it, and how you plan to prevent the same or similar issues in the future.

“I have seen Amazon reinstate sellers in just days when their first POA was organized, specific, and supported by proof.” — CJ Rosenbaum

A Plan of Action (POA) Should Consist of 3 Sections

Root Cause Analysis

Clearly explain why Amazon suspended your account. Many reasons exist; misunderstanding Amazon's rules, errors on the part of your suppliers, a listing violation, and customer complaints.

Be factual; provide facts and not feelings. When Amazon sees that you understand the situation and the problems with your business, they will be more likely to work with you.

Immediate Corrective Actions

Explain what you did to correct the situation after realizing the issue existed.

Give details of what was done (e.g., removed non-compliant listings, retrained employees, updated documents, contacted customers that were impacted).

This section of the POA is intended to demonstrate that the issue has been resolved.

Preventative Measures

Explain how you changed your organization to prevent that situation from happening again.

Ways to achieve this may be through taking steps to ensure compliance such as conducting supplier audits, creating compliance checklists, stricter reviews and procedures for conducting inventory verifications.

WHY YOUR FIRST PLAN OF ACTION MATTERS MOST

Most times Amazon only gives cash back from returns to replace or repair items when returned.

The first submission you make sets the tone for every submission you make thereafter; therefore, make sure you prepare it appropriately to give yourself the best chance possible.

An effective plan of action should be:

  • Targeted & Specific - Target the precise violation.

  • Short, Sweet & to the Point - 500 words maximum.

  • Documented Proof - Attach invoices, photos, or other forms of documentation required.

“The most successful reinstatements I’ve seen came from sellers who treated their first POA like their only one.” — CJ Rosenbaum

CASE INSIGHT

A seller I assisted was suspended for a high Order Defect Rate and rushed to submit three different POAs within 48 hours.

Amazon denied all of them.

We rebuilt the appeal from scratch, focusing on one verified cause — delayed FBA shipments — and provided documentation proving new handling procedures.

The account was reinstated within the week.

“Amazon values precision, not persistence.
When you focus on the true cause and demonstrate verifiable change, reinstatement follows.” — CJ Rosenbaum
